Culinarian's Home Foundation
The Culinarians’ Home, also known as the “Maison Familiale” is a retirement facility, located in New Paltz, N.Y. on the Wallkill River.
The property was the home of famed Maître d’ Oscar Tschirky (1866-1950), better known as “Oscar of the Waldorf”, creator of “Veal Oscar” and “Waldorf Salad”.
In 1942, under the leadership of President Founder Otto Gentsch, the property became the Culinarians’ Home Foundation, a retirement home open to members of the Société Culinaire and the culinary/hospitality profession.
Today, the “Home” also welcomes residents outside the culinary field. Every September, it is the setting of the annual fundraising Picnic, organized by the members of the Société Culinaire Philanthropique.
